Gynecologic Conditions & Treatments
Fibroids
Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or on the uterus. They can vary in size and may cause symptoms like heavy periods, pelvic pain, or pressure, although some women have no symptoms.
Myomectomy
A Myomectomy is a surgical procedure to remove fibroids (non-cancerous growths) from the uterus while preserving the uterus itself. It is often recommended for women who have symptoms like heavy bleeding, pelvic pain, or infertility caused by fibroids, and who wish to maintain their ability to have children. Myomectomy can be done through different methods, including traditional surgery, laparoscopy, or hysteroscopy, depending on the size and location of the fibroids.
Ovarian Cysts
Ovarian Cysts are fluid-filled sacs that form on or inside the ovaries. Most cysts are harmless and go away on their own, but some can cause pain, bloating, or complications if they grow large or rupture.
Urinary Incontinence
Urinary Incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine, meaning a person leaks urine by accident. It can range from occasional leaks when coughing or sneezing to a strong, sudden urge to urinate that’s hard to control. It’s more common in women and can be caused by factors like pregnancy, childbirth, aging, or certain medical conditions. Treatment options include lifestyle changes, pelvic floor exercises, medications, or, in some cases, surgery.
Hysterectomy
A Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the uterus. After this surgery, a woman can no longer become pregnant or have menstrual periods. It may be done to treat conditions such as fibroids, heavy bleeding, endometriosis, pelvic pain, or cancer. Depending on the reason for the surgery, the ovaries and other reproductive organs may also be removed. There are different types of hysterectomy and various surgical approaches, including abdominal, vaginal, or laparoscopic methods.
